The Honolulu Department of Parks & Recreation, in partnership with Hawai'i Public Radio, will air a new program, "Talk Story Radio," at 5:30 p.m. on Mondays on Hawai'i Public Radio's KIPO (89.3 FM), beginning today.

"Talk Story Radio" is a weekly half-hour storytelling program featuring the tales and tellers of Hawai'i and the Pacific Rim. It includes some 75 tellers and more than 1,100 stories. Jeff Gere, the storytelling drama specialist in the Parks Department, in collaboration with co-worker Kelli Heath, created the program.

Gere and Heath also created an extensive Web site, www .talkstoryradio.com, with show credits, pictures and links to related storytelling sites.

Today's program is "Fish Tales," with Jim Lewis, George Kahumoku Jr. and Woody Fern.

On Aug. 22, hear "Holua Sledding," with Nyla Cing-Fujii, Kathy Collins and Makia Malo.

On Aug. 29, hear "Forgiveness," with Sandra MacLees and Jeff Gere, Steven Rosenthal, Reggae McGowen and Willow Chang.
