HO, HO, HO: As he recovers from a heart-related problem, entertainer Don Ho must be wondering if he's right up there with Santa Claus, at least in getting his mail delivered to him. A note addressed only to "Singer Don Ho, Honolulu, Hawai'i" was delivered to Don Ho's Island Grill, the Aloha Tower Marketplace restaurant bearing his name, where manager Perkin Lee promptly had the mail forwarded to the singer. Lee thinks the Postal Service went beyond the call of duty — but then again, they get Santa's North Pole correspondence delivered, too. ...

TUBE WATCH: Sarah Wayne Callies, a 1995 Punahou grad last seen as Jane on WB's "Tarzan," is a recurring character on Fox TV's new "Prison Break" series, in which she plays Dr. Sara Tancredi, a prison doctor. She is the daughter of David Callies, a law professor at the University of Hawai'i, and Valerie Wayne, a UH English professor. At Punahou, Sarah Callies starred in "As You Like It," "The Mikado" and "The King and I," and has been on TV shows such as "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and "Numb3rs."

"Prison Break" debuted with a two-hour episode last night, but will be off the radar till October (because of Major League Baseball), returning to its Monday slot Oct. 24. The break should help, because the neophyte drama would otherwise initially compete against ABC's Monday Night Football. "Break" stars Wentworth Miller as an engineer who robs a bank to deliberately land in prison so he can attempt to get his brother out to prove his innocence. ...

NAMES 'N' PLACES: Cast members of Paliku Theatre's "South Pacific" sang a rousing "Happy Birthday" to their Bloody Mary, Sonya Mendez, at a rehearsal last week. Though she did not reveal her age, her colleagues agreed she's "Younger Than Springtime." Mendez, a Waikiki veteran, is making a rare stage turn and delivers one of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classics, "Bali Hai," in the musical opening Oct. 7. Steve Wagenseller will be Emile DeBecque, Tony Young will be Lt. Joseph Cable (and choreographer as well) and newcomer Maryn Good will be Nellie Forbush. Of course, Ron Bright is directing. And look for his grandson, Timothy Bright, as little Jerome. ...

There will be an array of familiar figures when Army Community Theatre launches its new season Sept. 8 with "Guys and Dolls" at Richardson Theatre, Fort Shafter. As earlier announced, Shari Lynn will be Miss Adelaide, Tina Shelton will play Sarah Brown, Jim Hutchison will be Nathan Detroit and Lenny Klompus will enact Sky Masterson. ABOUT PEOPLE: Singer Keali'i Reichel performed for the newly organized Hawai'i chapter of the American Liver Foundation for a private launching at the home of entertainer KK Kaminaka a few days back. Chapter vice president Dr. Linda Wong arranged for Reichel to perform, and chapter president Wesley Yamamoto secured the site, since Yamamoto and Kaminaka played in a high school band together before the latter turned professional. ...
