Advertiser Staff and News Services

Ai Miyazato closed with an even-par 72 for a record-setting victory at the LPGA Tour qualifying tournament yesterday at Daytona Beach, Fla.

The 20-year-old from Japan finished 12 shots ahead of Libby Smith and Lee Ann Walker-Cooper to earn her tour card for 2006.

It was the largest margin of victory at LPGA Q-school since it began in 1973.

Miyazato finished at 17-under 343 at the LPGA International course.

Miyazato was among 24 players who earned their cards, a group that included 17-year-old Morgan Pressel. McLachlin tied for 48th at PGA Q-School

Hawai'i's Parker McLachlin shot a 2-under 72 yesterday at the Crooked Cat Course and is tied for 48th after five rounds of the PGA Q-School at Winter Garden, Fla.

The Punahou graduate is at 7-under 353 with one round left in the 108-hole tournament.

The top 30 and ties after today's final round earn full-exempt status on the PGA Tour for 2006.

Keoke Cotner, a Kamehameha Schools alum, shot a 73 yesterday at the Panther Lake Course, and is tied for 119th at 362.
