N.P. once lived on the beach with her three children but for the past year has been in transitional housing.
When N.P.'s boyfriend became abusive and violent two years ago, she went to live with relatives.
But her ex-partner would find her and again beat her, said the family's social worker.
N.P. felt she had no other choice but to take her children and live in a tent on the beach, where she wouldn't be found.
About a year ago, N.P. found a job in a warehouse and began living in transitional housing.
She now works in retail as a cashier, making more money, but barely enough to pay rent and the essentials for her 6-year-old daughter and her sons ages 3 and 2.
N.P. said this will be the family's first "real" Christmas in a home they can call their own.
"My children will get to see their first Christmas tree and we'll celebrate it together like real families do," N.P. said.
The family's caseworker said this is the first time she's seen the family appear to be stable.
N.P. said her family needs a dresser to hold the kids' clothes. Her 6-year-old daughter is hoping Santa will bring her dolls for Christmas. The 3-year-old and 2-year-old boys would like toy trucks or sports-related toys.
Christmas Fund donations are used for families in need during the holidays. Any money remaining after the holidays will be used to help those in need throughout the year.
Our anonymous Santa will match the first $25 of each donation to the Christmas Fund.
