State agriculture officials were making arrangements to deport a 10-inch-long marsupial called a sugar glider after it was captured aboard an Omni Air International flight yesterday morning.

Passengers on Omni Flight 108 from Las Vegas to Honolulu reported seeing a creature running loose in the cabin. A passenger caught the animal, and it was turned over to state officials upon arrival at 11:55 a.m.

No passenger claimed the animal. Officials were investigating how it got onto the airplane.

Sugar gliders are small marsupials and are native to Australia, Tasmania and New Guinea.
