N. Mexico St. sweeps UH Fall tournament

New Mexico State's Robert Goff birdied the fourth extra hole to win medalist honors at the University of Hawai'i Fall Intercollegiate yesterday at Kane'ohe Klipper. The Aggies won the team title, shooting 301 in gusty winds to finish at 7-over-par 871 — a shot better than eighth-ranked UNLV (298—872).
The Rainbow Warriors closed with their worst round of the fall, shooting 320 to drop to 10th at 913.
UH senior Jarett Hamamoto shot an 83 yesterday and finished 27th at 225.
Goff (70), San Diego State's Andrew Scott (73), Baylor's Ryan Baca (73) and UNLV's Sevng-Su Han (71) were tied at 214 after 54 holes.
Q-SCHOOL QUALIFYING
Kamehameha Schools graduate Keoke Cotner opened with a 1-over-par 73 yesterday and is tied for 30th at the PGA Tour Q-School's Second Stage event in McKinney, Texas. Cotner is seven shots out of the lead at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club.
Punahou graduate Parker McLachlin shot a 75 at the second stage tournament being played at Deerwood Golf Club in Kingwood, Texas. He is tied for 60th, eight shots out of first.
The top 19 and ties after Saturday's final round, at each site, advance to the Q-School final.
SENIORS MISS CUT
Kihei's Dugal Milne (84—168) and Kailua's Gregg Baker (87—169) missed the cut at the Callaway Golf PGA Senior Club Professional Championship at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Mike San Filippo, Will Frantz and Darrell Kestner share the second-round lead at 5-under-par 139
GRAND SLAM DISCOUNT
The kama'aina discount for the PGA Grand Slam of Golf has been extended until Monday at 7 a.m., Hawai'i time. The discounted season ticket can only be purchased at (800) PGA-GOLF or pga.com.
The Slam will again be played at Po'ipu Bay Golf Course, Nov. 21 to 23.
Season tickets are usually $40, but are available to Hawai'i residents for $20 until Monday. Daily tickets are $10 for the Nov. 21 Pro-Am and $20 for the first (Nov. 22) or final (Nov. 23) round.
