QUICK BITES
Pretty up pies with won ton cutouts

Advertiser Staff

Here's how to make a quick and easy — and gorgeous — garnish for your Thanksgiving pie masterpiece, courtesy of Marylene Chun of Kailua:

Use fall-themed cookie cutters to cut shapes from won- ton wrappers, brush with a light egg wash (egg yolk and water), sprinkle with turbinado sugar and bake at 350 degrees for about 8 minutes until golden. Of course, you can also use leftover pie dough, but this works even if you use a store-bought pie. Freeze the remaining won- ton wrappers for use later. These keep for weeks in room temperature in an airtight container.

BERRY NICE

CRANBERRIES CAN ADD A TWIST TO CENTERPIECE OR BUBBLY DRINK

What can you do with a cranberry? Make a relish and serve it with tomorrow's turkey, of course. But here are a couple of other interesting ideas to spark up your table if you're entertaining.

For a floral centerpiece, fill a clear glass vase three-fourths full of fresh cranberries and water. Arrange cut flowers in the vase.

For an aperitif, serve Lava Lamps: Pour Champagne or sparkling wine into tall flutes and add a teaspoon of Craisins — sweetened, dried cranberries — to the glass. They'll slowly float up and down as your guests sip.
