Car-truck crash kills 1 in Wai'anae

One person was killed yesterday morning when a tractor-trailer collided with a car on Farrington Highway in Wai'anae at about 5 a.m.
The collision took place between Tamura Superette and the Wai'anae Mall.
Traffic was rerouted onto side streets while police vehicular homicide investigators examined the crash site.
GUNMAN ROBS WOMEN AT MAKAHA
Police were searching for a man who robbed two women Monday at a Makaha-area beach.
The women, ages 24 and 21, told police they were at the beach with friends when they saw a man taking their bags at about 2:30 p.m. One of the women said she saw the man taking things and confronted him.
She told police the man took out a handgun, ordered the woman to back away, pointed the gun at her friend and threatened to shoot her.
He ran away with the women's property before police arrived.
DRIVER OF ATV DIES OF INJURIES
HILO, Hawai'i — A 20-year-old Kea'au man died Saturday from injuries suffered in an all-terrain vehicle crash Nov. 15 in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision in Puna.
Paul David Youngs was pronounced dead at 9:27 p.m. Saturday at The Queen's Medical Center.
Police were called to 21st Avenue in Paradise Park at 4 p.m. on Nov. 15, and determined Youngs was riding a Suzuki 250 ATV north on 21st Avenue between Kaloli and Paradise drives when he lost control, ran off the right side of the road and struck a rock wall.
ARREST FOLLOWS DOWNTOWN ATTACK
Police arrested a 35-year-old man in downtown Honolulu Monday night on suspicion of beating another man unconscious.
Police said the victim was sitting on a sidewalk along Nu'uanu Avenue near Hotel Street about 8:55 p.m. when a man approached and began to swear at him.
The victim stood up and was immediately punched in the right eye, causing him to pass out, police said. Police said he suffered a fractured eye socket.
