WHO'S NEWS: Pierce Brosnan discusses his life after 007 in the December Playboy. But that's not the item: Interviewed at his Kaua'i home on the north shore of the Garden Isle, with his wife, Keely Shaye Smith, Brosnan was surrounded by what interviewer Stephen Rebello called "a group of gorgeous female friends and staff — he calls them the mermaids" who monitored the food and champagne. Sounds like James Bond, no? ...
Greg Zane, formerly of Honolulu, has completed a national tour of "The King and I," for which he was associate choreographer and danced the role of Simon of Legree. Stephanie Powers was Mrs. Anna. Baayork Lee directed; she was in the original "A Chorus Line" and has had a long history with that musical, which is due back on Broadway next year (she will direct and stage it, to maintain the vision of creator Michael Bennett). Diamond Head Theatre alumnus Edward Dias was a dancer, and Rommel O'Choa (who has performed for Norwegian Cruise Lines) was in the ensemble. ...
COMEDY CORNER: Augie T. will assume the Wednesday slot at the Sheraton Waikiki's Esprit Lounge, starting Jan. 4 — one of a wave of activities he's lined up in 2006. Look for him on KITV's "Ohana Road" series, too, and expect him to connect with his alma mater, Farrington High School. Of course, he's still doing mornings on Island 98.5 with mike mate Lanai. ...
Frank DeLima & Na Kolohe will return to Margarita's on Lewers Street Dec. 10 with a holiday show — complete with his trademark "Filipino Christmas" shtick, of course. The shows repeat Dec. 17 and 24. ...

Andrew Sharp wanted to think of a novel — and distinctly Island way — to celebrate his father Robert's 60th birthday. Dad, a frequent Maui visitor, adores Roselani's Haupia Ice Cream. So Andrew and mother Inese ordered six half-gallons — along with a "Haupia Rocks" T-shirt — to be sent to the Sharp's Poughkeepsie, N.Y., home. ...
