Step up Hawai'i, and help make a difference

Who can resist the opportunity to make a difference?
Especially here in Hawai'i, where we rely on the kindness and support of others in so many ways, and where we're equally quick to give that support.
So here's your chance.
As Advertiser staff writer Catherine Toth reported in yesterday's paper, a huge national volunteer effort is under way — one that deserves your kokua.
The annual Make a Difference Day will be held in communities across the county, including ours, on Saturday, Oct. 22. And the time to register to help is now.
Projects run the gamut, from beach cleanups to sprucing up parks to a wide array of community projects. Dozens of Advertiser staffers will be out there, too. So take the kids and use this opportunity to show them that what they do can indeed make a difference right here at home.
It's a lifelong lesson that will serve us all well, and one worth cherishing.
