Police arrested a city bus driver Wednesday as a suspect in the attempted sexual assault of a 15-year-old boy who was a passenger on the bus.
Police said the alleged incident took place between 4 and 6 p.m. Oct. 2 in Pearl City.
Michelle Kennedy, manager of customer communications for Oahu Transit Services Inc., the private company that operates the city bus system, said the driver, 30, has been suspended without pay.
Kennedy said OTS cooperated with police in an investigation during the past three weeks that led to the arrest of the driver.
"Management at OTS had been made aware of several customer complaints, and encouraged the customers to file police reports so further action could be taken," Kennedy said.
She said no other bus company employees are believed to be involved, and that the arrest is "certainly not reflective of the character and integrity of the overwhelmingly vast majority of bus employees."
