Free orthopedic screening offered

Shriners Hospitals for Children Honolulu will have a free screening clinic Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to identify children who can benefit from orthopedic care provided at the hospital.
Any child under 18 years of age who might have orthopedic problems is eligible for evaluation. Shriners Hospitals for Children is at 1310 Punahou St. Call 941-4466.

JAYCEES WILL HOST SUCCESS SEMINAR
The Hawai'i Kai Jaycees will host a personal development seminar at 8 a.m. Oct. 30 at the Mo'ili'ili Community Center, Room 301.
The sessions include dressing for success and grooming tips, physical fitness, business networking, nutrition and health. The cost is $8 and lunch is provided. Door prizes will be given. The Hawai'i Kai Jaycees is a young men and women's organization for ages 18 to 40 that teaches leadership skills through service to the community. SCHOOL PRESENTS SPOOKY TOUR
'Aina Haina Elementary School's haunted house spooky tour takes selected tales from Sleepy Hollow to chicken-skin stories about Hawai'i for "Haunted States" from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 28 at the school's campus, 801 W. Hind Drive.
Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children. Halloween-themed games, stories and food also will be available for purchase. Proceeds go toward paying for school library programs.

DINNER TO HONOR ATTORNEY LUNA
WAILUKU — Maui attorney B. Martin Luna will be honored at a testimonial dinner tomorrow hosted by the Maui Filipino Centennial Celebration Coordinating Council.
Luna was chairman of the task force for the Binhi At Ani Maui Filipino Community Center and is active in other community causes. Speakers for the dinner, which begins at 6 p.m. at the Westin Maui, include state Sen. Robert Bunda and state Rep. Joseph Souki.
Tickets are $75 and may be purchased by calling Vince Bagoyo at (808) 357-3842.
Proceeds from the dinner will benefit Filipino Centennial Celebration events planned for this year and next year.
Honorary and co-chairs for the testimonial dinner are Maui County Council members Danny Mateo and Joe Pontanilla, and Mercedes Neri and Priscilla Baloaloa.

BOOK ILLUSTRATOR AT CRAFT SESSION
Illustrator Tammy Yee, who collaborated with author U'ilani Goldsberry on "A is for Aloha: a Hawai'i Alphabet," will read aloud the new children's book, conduct a drawing demonstration and a make-it-and-take-it craft session Wednesday at the 'Ewa Beach Public & School Library at 10:30 a.m.
The free, 30-minute program is recommended for children ages 3 and older. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Call 689-1204.
KALIHI
SCHOOL CELEBRATES WORLD CULTURE
Food booths, a bazaar and traditional dances and songs from a variety of countries will be featured as part of St. Anthony School's United Nation's Day celebration today at the school.
The dances and songs will be performed by children from grades K through 8 for the celebration focusing on world culture and peace.
The celebration begins at 8 a.m. and will end at 2 p.m. and is open to the public.
The school is at 640 Pu'uhale Road.

STATE ID CARDS TO BE PROCESSED
State ID personnel will be at Kaiser High School, 511 Lunalilo Home Road, to process applications for State ID cards on Oct. 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A fee of $10 will be charged for senior citizens 65 years and older, and $15 for all others. Only cash will be accepted.
New applicants must provide an original Social Security card and a certified copy of their birth certificates. For renewals of current ID cards with no change in name or citizenship, no other documents are required.
