Support our troops; Help youngsters in Iraq

At today's University of Hawai'i Wahine volleyball game at the Stan Sheriff Center or the Nov. 12 UH football game at Aloha Stadium, stop by the Malama o Na Koa/Support Our Troops table. There you can donate toward a campaign to send 1,001 phone cards, along with angel note cards, to Hawai'i troops in the Middle East during the holidays. It's sponsored by a group from the UH Institutional Research Office. mhirao@hawaii.edu.
Drop off teddy bears, stuffed animals or soccer balls from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Kailua Intermediate School, where an 8th grade class has launched "Operation e malama na keiki o Iraq." The program is based on a Colorado program, "Operation Teddy Bear," spearheaded by Dave Thielen, son of state Rep. Cynthia Thielen.
