RANKIN IN FUNDRAISER
Kenny Rankin, singer, songwriter and guitarist whose musical career has spanned 3› decades, will perform in a benefit for two child-abuse prevention agencies, the Hawaii Family Support Institute and CARE, Oct. 22 at the Prince Hotel’s Mauna Kea Ballroom. The 21st annual Black Tie Celebrity Auction and Dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails and silent auction; dinner is at 6 p.m., Rankin performs at 7:30 p.m., a live auction is at 8 p.m.

BENEFITING KUMU KAHUA
The annual Kala-Bash Party and Silent Auction is a fundraiser for community-theater group Kumu Kahua, which is celebrating its 35th year. Also featuring door prizes and food, the benefit takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Kapiçolani Community College cafeteria.

Kumu Kahua’s current production is “Tea,” about the lives of Japanese brides of American servicemen from World War II. It continues at 8 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays, through Sept. 25. Tickets are $5-$16.
