Several Hawai'i judoka placed in the top three at tournaments on the Mainland in recent weeks.
Hodokan Judo Club's Tabitha Lum placed third in the women's 48 kg (105.6 pounds) division at the Fall Classic National Championships, Sept. 2 to 4, at Miami, Fla.
Former World Team Member Taylor Takata of Wahiawa was defeated by Ippon by eventual winner Bobby Lee in the 73 kg (160.6 pounds) division.
Takeshi Young, a Pearl City graduate, finished second in the 73 kg division at the Ladder Tournament, a senior elite level point tournament (Level E), run in conjunction with the Fall Classic.
Taylor Ibera, from Hawai'i Tenri Judo Club, placed third in the women's 44 kg (96.8 pounds) division, and Shingo Katsura, a Moanalua graduate, finished second in the men's 90 kg (198 pounds) division, at the Golden State Open at Glendora, Calif., Aug. 28.
Individuals on the senior level who place in the Golden State Open and The Fall Classic received points and were placed on the Senior Level National Judo Roster.
