Hashimoto makes SMU all-tourney soccer team

Southern Methodist senior forward/midfielder Duke Hashimoto (Iolani '02 of Kapolei) was named to the SMU Radisson Hotel Classic all-tournament team last weekend.
Hashimoto scored in the 65th minute as the Mustangs defeated West Virginia, 1-0, Friday. He faked out one defender and split two more in the box and shot the ball past the goalkeeper.
Elsewhere, Pacific (Forest Grove, Ore.) sophomore midfielder/defender Ricky Shinn (Pearl City '03) scored in a 3-2 win over Cascade (Portland, Ore.) Friday. Shinn tied the game at 2 in the 84th minute.
Junior midfielder Derek Atta ('Aiea) assisted on the winning goal with about five seconds to play.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Cornell senior midfielder Kara Ishikawa (Iolani '02 of Mililani) assisted on the first goal for the Big Red in a 2-1 win over Buffalo Sunday. She was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll for her efforts.
Ishikawa scored in a 4-0 win over Robert Morris Sept. 4, and again in a 2-0 win against St. Bonaventure.
Oregon senior forward Nicole Garbin (Baldwin '01) scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Elon (N.C.) Friday.
Garbin scored on a header in the 28th minute and on a breakaway in the 65th.
She also scored her sixth goal of the season in the 32nd minute to give Oregon a 1-0 win Sunday at North Carolina State as the Ducks defeated an Atlantic Coast Conference team for the first time in school history.
Long Island (N.Y.) junior forward Erica Chong (Hilo '03) assisted on a goal with 14 seconds left for a 1-0 win over Stony Brook Sept. 6. She scored in an exhibition against Boston University Aug. 21 by blocking the goalkeeper's pass and shooting it from 18 yards.
Beloit College (Wisc.) freshman goalkeeper Ashley Nakamoto (Mililani '05) posted a shutout in her first college game, a 1-0 overtime win over Wisconsin Lutheran College Sept. 1. Nakamoto had three saves.
Azusa Pacific (Calif.) junior forward/midfielder Mari Kasamoto (Iolani of Honolulu) scored in a 9-0 rout of Whittier Saturday.
FOOTBALL
Indiana State senior defensive back Rocky Alo (Kailua of Hau'ula) had eight tackles (six solo) and senior linebacker Anipati Mailo (Kahuku '99 of Waialua) had four tackles (one solo) in a 42-10 loss to Saint Francis (Fort Wayne, Ind.) Saturday.
Whitworth (Spokane, Wash.) sophomore running back Chris Ahsing (Campbell of 'Ewa Beach) rushed for 68 yards on 13 carries in a 35-21 win over visiting Redlands (Calif.) Saturday.
Occidental (Los Angeles) senior wide receiver Ric Fukushima (Moanalua '02 of Waipahu) caught a 19-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter in a 40-20 win against Chapman University Saturday. Fukushima finished with 104 yards on four catches.
Oxy senior linebacker Derek Turbin (Punahou '02 of Honolulu) recovered the ball off a blocked field-goal attempt by Chapman in the third quarter.
Lewis & Clark College (Portland, Ore.) has announced the suspension of its Northwest Conference football games for this season, citing safety concerns after fielding only 34 players this fall.
Sophomore running back Eric Muraoka (Iolani of Honolulu) and sophomore wide receiver Chris Bailey (Punahou of Waipahu) are on the team, which is planning to play nonconference games.
VOLLEYBALL
College of Southern Idaho freshman outside hitter Aneli Cubi-Otineru (Punahou '05) made the all-tournament team at the Salt Lake Community College Tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah, Sept. 2 to 3.
Pacific (Forest Grove, Ore.) sophomore setter Anela Iseke (Kamehameha of Hau'ula) was named to the Molten/Colorado College Invitational All-Tournament team. In four matches, she had 11 kills, 99 assists, 10 service aces and 25 digs.
MEN'S GOLF
Gonzaga sophomore Reyn Tanaka (Mid-Pacific '04) finished in a tie for 58th (80-73-76—229) at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, which concluded Sunday at the 7,301-yard, par-72 Eisenhower G.C.-Blue Course in Colorado.
San Francisco sophomore Moses Kahalekulu (Baldwin of Wailuku) finished in a tie for 64th (78-73-79—230) and freshman teammate Kurt Nino (Damien '05) tied for 71st (74-77-81—232).
