Wise 'proud' of golfing honor

New Mexico State junior Lehua Wise was selected to the Sun Belt Conference's All-Time Women's Golf Team.
Wise, a 2003 Kaua'i graduate, is a two-time all-conference selection, and won the conference tournament as a freshman.
"This is a great accomplishment for me individually," Wise said on the program's Web site. "I am proud to be a part of NMSU athletics and it's great to be able to bring recognition like this to the program. I am just honored to have been named to the team and I feel so privileged."

Loyola Marymount senior Chaz Inouye (St. Anthony '02) tied for 23rd (78-74-76—228) in the tournament that concluded yesterday.
Gonzaga sophomore Reyn Tanaka (Mid-Pacific '04) finished with a 73 yesterday for a 54-hole total of 228, but took a disqualification for playing the wrong ball out of the rough early in the final round, according to a press release by Gonzaga.
According to the release, Bulldog head coach Robert Gray said Tanaka hit a ball into an area of rough. It was the same general area he hit a ball into during a practice round Sunday. Tanaka found what he thought was his ball and played it. But the ball he played was a "3" (a ball identifier marking) and he and his playing partner were playing a "2," which led Tanaka to disqualify himself for playing the wrong ball.
"He is an honorable young man," Gray said in the release. "It shows what kind of a guy he is. And it falls into what we preach at Gonzaga — we don't cheat to win. It was an unfortunate thing with the ball still there from the practice round, and had it been me I probably would have assumed it was the correct ball also."
WOMEN'S TRACK
California-Berkeley freshman Fran Weems (Kealakehe '05 of Kailua, Kona) was 11th in 58.58.
Weems placed third in the 200 (25.05 seconds) at the Johnny Mathis Invitational on April 9.
WOMEN'S SWIMMING
Simunovich finished her career with three Dartmouth top-10 finishes, in the 50 freestyle (ninth, 24.67 seconds), 100 freestyle (sixth, 53.28) and 200 freestyle (sixth, 1:54.51).

Le'i set career highs with home runs in a season (14) and RBIs in a season (55) with 16 games remaining. She had six home runs in six games, doubled twice and tallied 19 RBIs. She is now within five RBIs of tying a school record for most in a season.
She had a home run, double and seven RBIs in a doubleheader sweep yesterday over New Mexico, 11-1 and 12-10.
She hit three home runs and drove in eight runs in BYU's 14-10 and 16-13 victories over Colorado State over the weekend.
She also hit a home run in a 10-5 loss to Southern Utah on April 11.
Senior third baseman Ashlyn Russell (Baldwin '02) batted 3 for 8, with four runs, three RBIs, a home run, and two doubles, and sophomore center fielder Emi Snow (Kamehameha '04) was 3 for 9 with four RBIs against Colorado State.
SAILING
Pochereva's crew scored 62 points.
