ABERDEEN, Md. — After its first loss at the Cal Ripken World Series for 12-year-olds yesterday, Hilo is hoping to meet Bryant, Ark., again to exact a measure of revenge.

Arkansas shut down Hilo, 2-0, as pitcher Blake Davidson pitched all six innings, striking out eight and allowing just four hits.

"In my books we should have hit this guy (starting pitcher Blake Davidson)," Hilo coach Kaha Wong said. "Hopefully, we meet these guys again and get some revenge."

After the game, some of Hilo's players were visibly upset, and Wong took them to a nearby field for a talk.

Hilo does not play today.

The team's 3-1 record most likely will be good enough to qualify for the semifinals.

In the case of a tie between teams, runs allowed will be considered.

Both runs for Arkansas came in the first inning.

Tyler Nelson started things with a ground-rule double to left. He advanced to third on Jordan Taylor's single. Taylor then stole second.

Kawika Pruett, Hilo's starting pitcher, threw a wild pitch that scored Nelson, and Taylor advanced to third. A passed ball allowed Taylor to score.

Pruett pitched five innings, striking out 10, and allowed just three hits.

His best inning was the bottom of the third, when he struck out the side.

Pruett and Davidson earned the Ron Tellefsen Player of the Game Award for their teams. It is the third time in this tournament that Pruett has won the award.
