Former Kane'ohe resident Dean Wilson shot a 2-over-par 74 in the opening round of the PGA Championship, the last of the four major PGA tournaments this year.

Wilson had one birdie and three bogeys over the 7,561-yard Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Ill.

Wilson, 36, a Castle High School alum coming off his first PGA Tour victory last week at the International, birdied the par-5 14th. He bogeyed the par-5 fifth and 10th holes and the par-4 16th hole.

Wilson is scheduled to tee off at 7:05 a.m. today in the second round. TNT will have television coverage from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
