Announcement of nominations
Advertiser Staff
Nominations for the 2007 Grammy Awards will be announced tomorrow morning in Los Angeles. And the question, once again, for the best-Hawaiian-music-album category is: Will slack-key and instrumental recordings dominate the nominees? There's a good chance. The 29 discs submitted for consideration match up several multi-artist compilations such as "Hawaiian Slack Key Kings" with popular vocal discs such as Amy Hanaiali'i's "Generation Hawai'i" and Henry Kapono's "The Wild Hawaiian." Go to "breaking news" at www.honoluluadvertiser.com tomorrow to see the final five. The Grammys will be handed out on Feb. 11.

FINAL WORD
"I don't care who you are or what you do for a living — if you do it well, I'm betting there was someone cheering you on."
