Former TV reporter LOUISE KIM McCOY has been named communications director for the state Department of Public Safety. She joined the department in May, following a career as reporter on stations KITV and KGMB. As KGMB's crime reporter for a decade, she was regularly recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists in the categories of "Investigative Reporting" and "Series Reporting."
Twenty-five year financial management veteran LINDA ROSS has been named chief financial officer of the Waikiki Health Center. She is a former vice president and CFO of Easter Seals Hawai'i, and vice president of finance for Goodwill Industries of Honolulu.
DUANE T. KAWAMOTO who opened L'Uraku in 1996 as restaurant manager, subsequently becoming general manager ? has been named general manager of Sergio's Italian Restaurant at Hilton Hawaiian Village. During a 25-year food industry executive career, he has held several corporate positions with Furusato Restaurants and International Furusato Inc., including L'Uraku. Also announced was the promotion of KYLE T. MATSUMOTO, from general manager to vice president of Sergio's LLC.
PacificBasin Communications has promoted Honolulu Magazine advertising art director, KRISTIN GONZALES, to the magazine's art director. Before joining PacificBasin, she was art director at Tori Richards and an award-winning freelance graphic designer.
McDonald's Restaurants of Hawaii has announced a number of appointments:
KELLEY NAKANO who previously practiced law, with an emphasis on construction litigation has joined McDonald's Restaurants of Hawaii as area construction manager. He will oversee the remodeling, rebuilding and construction of McDonald's restaurants throughout Hawai'i, Guam and Saipan. He is also a former project manger with both Hasegawa Builders and Horita Development Co.
Another new member of the McDonald's regional corporate office team is new human resources specialist, TRISTIN VILORIA, previously a human resources coordinator at Hilton Hawaiian Village. At McDonald's, Viloria will process temporary disability and workers' compensation cases, handle employee insurance benefits and oversee new employee orientation.
ELY REDOR, as receptionist, will handle office administrative duties. She previously worked for McDonald's of Wahiawa and as a conference assistant and receptionist at the UH-Manoa Conference Housing.
The aio Group, a Honolulu-based holding company with assets in communications, sports, technology, marketing and food, has formed a new media company to expand its reach into the Asia-Pacific region. Senior leadership has been restructured to manage the new structure:
Floyd K. Takeuchi, who formerly headed aio Media, aio's print media group, has been named the president and chief operating officer of aio's newest division, TransOceanic Media. TransOceanic Media is comprised of three existing aio communications units: Pacific Magazine; Downtown Planet, a weekly community newspaper in Honolulu; and Hawaii Buyer's Guide, an annual industrial products guide. Takeuchi continues to oversee these media branches as well as launch major media initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region.
As part of the changes, aio has restructured and placed most of its Hawai'i-focused companies under the oversight of Susan Eichor, who serves as president and chief operating officer of aio Hawaii. Eichor will oversee B. Hayman, BluePrint Media, Hawaii's Best Events, IamHawaii.com, PacificBasin Communications, ESPN 1420 and Watermark Publishing. Eichor will also be responsible for aio's information technology and human resource units. She was formerly director of operations for Verizon Hawaii.
PATRICK BOLT has been named director of facilities for the 880-acre Turtle Bay Resort on O'ahu's North Shore. Previously he was assistant chief engineer for Turtle Bay management company Benchmark Hospitality International's east coast flagship property, Lansdowne Resort, near Washington, D.C. There he also served in the role of Task Force Support, assisting Turtle Bay with facility operational projects.
