Caregivers for the elderly or for people with disabilities can view presentations, products and services designed for them at a series of workshops sponsored by AARP Hawaii.
The series, called "Discover Eden at Home," begins tomorrow at the Hawai'i Convention Center in Honolulu. It takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is a $30 registration fee.
Similar workshops will be held on the Neighbor Islands next week.
Author and gerontologist Bill Thomas will be a featured speaker.
"(Thomas') understanding of the role of caregivers and caregiving professionals not only inspires, but gives hope and new insight," said Jackie Boland, associate state director of AARP Hawaii. "I believe he'll be a great resource for Hawai'i's caregivers."
The O'ahu conference will feature workshops and activities on topics ranging from coping with Alzheimer's, exploring issues of caregiving and a discussion of in-home and out-of-home care options.
Keynote speaker Clarence Liu will offer a presentation titled "A Call to Care: Finding Inspiration and Strength From Within."
A Tools for Life Expo will feature exhibits of assistive technologies, products and services for the elderly and people with disabilities.
