Honolulu police are looking for a serial bank robber who wears a blond wig and is allegedly responsible for eight bank robberies in less than a year.
The man, who struck again Monday, appears to be in his 30s, about 5 feet 8 and 150 pounds, with a fair complexion.
He walked into the Hawai'i State Federal Credit Union's Pearlridge branch and handed the teller a note demanding money, police said.
The man told the teller he had a gun and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.
Before Monday's robbery the most recent heist occurred at about 4:10 p.m. on June 2, when a man entered the Kane'ohe branch of Central Pacific Bank at 45-1151 Kamehameha Highway.
Police said the man approached a teller, brandished a pocketknife and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the man fled in the direction of Lilipuna Road.
Police said they believe the same man may have committed six other bank robberies from Oct. 24, 2005, to May 18:
Bank robberies are on the rise on O'ahu this year, with the total number recorded through May 1 surpassing last year's total of 23.
