Step up to the playing field at this year's Sports Carnival of games, rides and entertainment. The Breeder brothers, more popularly known as B5, right, perform at 8 p.m. March 10 and 11. R&B artist Ray J croons at 8 p.m. March 17 and 18. Wristbands and fun passes are available, good for admission and unlimited rides on certain days and times. Discount ride days are from noon-6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is $4 general, free for kids 3 and younger from 6 p.m.-midnight Fridays and Saturdays; and $2 general, $1 ages 4-11 and free for 3 and younger from noon-6 p.m. Saturdays and noon-11 p.m. Sundays.

OPERA: MARCH 10-14

Hawaii Opera Theatre closes its winter season with Giacomo Puccini's "Tosca." The beautiful Tosca finds herself caught in a love triangle between a political captive and a corrupt police chief in this grand drama. Pamela South stars as the title character; Jake Gardner is Scarpia and Richard Crowley is Cavaradossi. Karen Tiller directs. Tickets are $28-$100.

DANCE: MARCH 17-26

The University of Hawai'i-Manoa's Department of Theatre and Dance unveils its annual concert, "Dance: Connection and Extension." The program includes hula, ballet and modern dance; choreography is by the UH dance faculty, along with Karl Schaffer, Erik Stern and the late Alwin Nikolais. Free pre-show events happen at 7 p.m. March 18 and 25. Tickets are $15 general, $13 seniors, military, UH faculty/staff, $10 students and $4 UH-Manoa students.

Hawai'i Pacific University Theatre's spring offering is "The Gin Game" by D.L. Coburn. Two nursing home residents play gin rummy while getting to know each other in this tragi-comedy. Don Pomes appears as Weller Martin and Joyce Maltby is Fonsia Dorsey. Mitchell Milan directs. CONCERT: MARCH 18

Kamaka Hawai'i Inc. celebrates its 90th birthday by throwing a benefit party to help others. Proceeds from the "Ukes for Kids" concert will go to the 'Ukulele Guild of Hawai'i's Ukes for Kids program. Performers include Jake Shimabukuro, Auntie Genoa Keawe, Ho'okena, below, Holunape, Bryan Tolentino, O'Brian Eselu, Byron Yasui and Benny Chong. Karen Keawehawai'i and Ku'uipo Kumukahi emcee. Discover "The Mysterious and Unknown Rituals of the Philippines" when Ballet Folklorico de Philipinas, below, presents an evening of traditional Philippines music and dance. The 26-member folk dance and music company from Manila features a program that includes ritual dances of Luzon and folk dances of Mindanao. Ramon Obusan directs. Tickets are $15-$25.

STAGE: MARCH 24-25

Improv group Loose Screws revives its "Screwbuki!?!" theater experience in which two one-act Kabuki plays will be attempted based on audience input. In 2005, Loose Screws took "Screwbuki!?!" to the Chicago Improv Festival, where it won the Compass Award for innovation in improvisation. Loose Screws is heading back to the Chicago festival this year. Tickets are $10 general advance, $15 at the box office an hour before each show.

CONCERT: MARCH 25

Veteran alt-rock band 311 visits three islands as part of its spring tour. The quintet from Nebraska formed in 1990 and has since released hit albums such as "311," "Soundsystem" and "Don't Tread on Me." Doors open 4 p.m. Tickets are $38 advance for this all-ages bash, which also features Pepper, the popular band that's originally from the Big Island.
