Woman suspected of switching tags

A 26-year-old woman with no local address was arrested at Ala Moana Center Thursday after security guards for a store said they saw her switch price tags on several items of clothing and then buy them at the reduced prices.
The security guards confronted the woman after the transaction was completed about 4:10 p.m. Police were called. An inventory of the items showed the store would have suffered a loss of more than $300 had the woman succeeded, police said.
She was arrested on suspicion of second-degree theft.
TEENAGER ADMITS STEALING CAMERA
A 17-year-old boy was arrested Thursday in connection with an incident stemming from a car theft in Pearl City on Feb. 10.
Police said the boy was a passenger in the stolen car and was initially released without charges.
But after a follow-up investigation, the boy admitted to stealing a digital camera that was in the car at the time it was stolen, police said.
The boy was arrested on suspicion of second-degree theft.
WIFE ARRESTED IN ATTACK WITH BAT
A 42-year-old Makaha woman was arrested Thursday after her 45-year-old husband told police she struck him on the arm with a baseball bat.
The husband said he was attacked about 5 p.m. at the couple's home on Hanalei Street.
Police arrested the wife on suspicion of second-degree assault.
CAB RIDES LEAD TO FORGERY ARREST
A 44-year-old woman who allegedly used a counterfeit $100 bill to pay her cab fare early Wednesday made the mistake of trying to do the same thing to the same driver the following morning, police said.
They said the 61-year-old driver picked the woman up on Ke'eaumoku Street about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday and that she paid for the cab ride with a bogus $100 bill. The driver discovered the bill was fake about an hour later, police said.
The same woman called the same cab company Thursday and asked to be picked up at the same location, police said.
The same driver involved in the Wednesday incident was dispatched to pick up the woman on Thursday and recognized her as the passenger who gave him the phony bill the day before, police said.
Police were contacted Thursday morning and they arrested the woman on two counts of suspicion of first-degree forgery and two counts of fourth-degree theft.
ASSAULT ON WIFE MAY BE A FELONY
A case against a 40-year-old man suspected of assaulting his wife at Waimanalo Beach Park on March 9 was elevated Thursday from a misdemeanor to a felony.
Investigators discovered the man has two prior misdemeanor convictions for abuse of a household or family member within the past two years.
Under state law, a third incident within a two-year period is a felony, police said.
