GARDEN EVENTS

Lyon Arboretum offers an eight-week docent training class which covers botany, horticulture, plant conservation, and the arboretum's special collections, 10 a.m.-noon, Mondays beginning April 3, at the arboretum grounds in Manoa Valley; free, docents will be expected to volunteer as tour guides. Amy Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden, volunteers sought to assist with garden cleanup, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday; no admission. Also: guided tours focusing on canoe plants (plants brought to the Islands during Polynesian migration), 1 p.m. Wednesdays and a tour highlighting Native Hawaiian medicinal plants, 1 p.m. Fridays, at the garden; tour admission is $5.
