TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"NCAA Basketball Tournament," 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., CBS. By the end of the night, we'll know which teams will be in the final four for the NCAA tournament. Games on Thursday and yesterday trimmed the field to eight. After today and tomorrow, we'll know which teams will head to the finals on April 1 and 3.

OF NOTE

"A Season for Miracles," 5 p.m., Hallmark Channel. It's possible that you won't be looking for a good Christmas movie tonight. Still, this is one of the best. Carla Gugino plays a young woman on the run with her children. Homeless and troubled, she reaches a town where lives can change.

"Signs" (2002), 7 p.m., ABC. M. Night Shyamalan is a brilliant writer-director who has already given us two great films — "Sixth Sense" and "The Village." This one, by comparison, tries to do too much, ranging from goofiness to intense drama. Mel Gibson plays a widowed minister who has lost his faith. As crop circles and aliens appear, he tries to make sense of them and of life.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," 8 p.m., NBC. When a 12-year-old boy has been severely beaten, the investigation looks at brutality on the school yard and at home.

"Our House," 7, 9, 11 p.m., Hallmark Channel. Doris Roberts plays a rich woman, newly widowed, who tries to kill herself. When a homeless woman (Judy Reyes of "Scrubs") saves her, they form a mismatched friendship.

"The Evidence," 9 p.m., ABC. This fairly standard cop show is occasionally brightened by the byplay between detectives played by Orlando Jones and Rob Estes. They investigate the murder of a pharmacist.

"Conviction," 9 p.m., NBC. Desmond is obsessed with convicting a rap producer. Rossi handles a wife-beating case that hits close to home.

"Saturday Night Live," 10:30 p.m., NBC. Steve Martin hosts this rerun with music from Prince.
