Turtle Bay exec stepping down

Turtle Bay Resort general manager and vice president Abid Butt said he is resigning "to pursue new professional opportunities on the Mainland."
Resort manager Bob Boyle will succeed Butt on May 20 as the new managing director of the resort, which is operated by Benchmark Hospitality.
Butt joined Turtle Bay Resort in 2003 as managing director and was promoted to general manager and vice president in January 2005.
"For several months, our team has planned to pass the torch to a new managing director who can take this resort to the next level," Butt said in a statement.
PUMP STATION COMMENTS DUE
Public comments are due tomorrow on the state's plan to redevelop the historic Ala Moana sewage pump station property in Kaka'ako.
A consultant has been preparing development guidelines for the 3.3-acre state-owned site based on a study and public workshops in October and November.

Redevelopment is expected to include renovation and reuse of the pump station buildings, and could include new buildings with a mix of commercial and residential use.
A state consultant has estimated it would take $2 million to restore the pump house to historic standards.
TRADE CENTER TO GET $1M IN WORK
The new owner of the Waikiki Trade Center plans to spend more than $1 million to renovate the office high-rise at 2255 Kuhio Ave.
An affiliate of California-based real estate firm 3D Investments bought the 24-story building for about $30 million in February, and hired CB Richard Ellis Hawaii Inc. to manage and lease the underperforming property.
CB Richard Ellis said upgrades will be made to the building's retail mall, lobbies, landscaping, air conditioning, elevators and other common areas.
