The Subphonix monthly at Mercury lounge always offers a sweet haven for drum-n-bass heads. Tonight, it celebrates the decade-long achievements of one of the town's first and still most inventive beats-per-minute manipulators, DJ BassX.

Expect a bass-bombing set scaring the grit off of the nocturnal creatures on Chaplain Lane. Expect DJs Saya and Antikkz to open. Mostly, expect to freakin' dance. From 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., $5, 21 and over.

Ong King Arts Center continues its First Friday multimedia blowouts tonight. On the bill: Poet-singer Iyeoka Ivie Okoawo, who has opened for Gil Scot Heron and performed on HBO's Def Poetry Jam; work by Christian graffiti artist Kristof and South African-raised painter Margo Schrire; and the eyebrow raising antics of the Cherry Blossom Burlesque crew.
