Kawano named USA women's boxing coach

USA Boxing has named Pearl City's Bruce Kawano as national team coach for the Women's World Championships, Nov. 19 to 23, in New Delhi, India.
Kawano also coached last year's United States team in the world championships in Russia.
The 12-member team will train from Nov. 7 to 12 at Colorado Springs, Colo., before heading to New Delhi. No Hawai'i boxers are on the squad.
Kawano, a longtime Hawai'i coach, is the USA Boxing Junior Olympic chairman and member of the Hawai'i board of directors/governors.

The T&C Skate/Ezekiel Halloween Havoc Amateur Skateboard Contest crowned four division winners on Sunday at Manana State Park in Pearl City.
The skateboarders, launching off 15-foot drops, were judged on best tricks.

PONY GAINS MEMBER
Windward Warriors Baseball Club has joined the PONY organization.
Players from Windward O'ahu and Waimanalo are being sought for five age divisions, ranging in age from 5 to 14 years old. Coaches are also sought.
Registration is tomorrow, Nov. 18, Dec. 2 and 9, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Waimanalo Beach Park Pavillion office.
