BUSINESS BRIEFS
Trump project touted online

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Donald Trump, always quick to seize marketing opportunities, is touting his new Waikiki condominium project and travel to Hawai'i in an online journal appearing as part of a celebrity feature on Yahoo! Inc.'s Web site.

"When I travel worldwide, I never settle for just any vacation," wrote Trump, who is developing a 462-unit luxury hotel-condominium named the Trump International Hotel and Tower. Units in the project are priced between $445,000 and $4.5 million. "I welcome nothing but the best and would love to introduce you to my most recent endeavor into the Hawaiian Islands."

Trump's travel log also mentions he played golf at Turtle Bay and had meals at Hoku's, La Mer and Chef Mavro. Besides mentioning his Waikiki project, Trump also notes travel to Hawai'i can be booked through his www.GoTrump.com Web site.

CINGULAR ADDS 11 SITES STATEWIDE

Cingular Wireless said it has activated 11 new cell sites in Hawai'i this year to help strengthen and expand its network.

Seven sites were added on O'ahu, two on Maui and one each on the Big Island and Lana'i, the company said. The new sites, along with 16 sites installed in 2005, are part of a $30 million statewide network investment over the past two years.

ALOHA INVESTOR BIDS FOR TRIBUNE

Aloha Airlines investor and investment fund operator Ronald Burkle and billionaire philanthropist Eli Broad submitted a bid to buy Tribune Co., whose holdings include the Los Angeles Times.

Details about the offer and the price that the duo would be willing to pay remained unclear, but the Los Angeles-based businessmen have said for months that they wanted a local group to take control of the Times, according to a story published yesterday on the newspaper's Web site.
