Unitarians will take to the street

Members of First Unitarian Church of Honolulu are walking the streets of downtown Honolulu today in what's being billed as a "street retreat."
The idea: to see, firsthand, what life is like on the street. They'll be easy to spot: Participants will be wearing fools hats.
First Unitarian Intern Minister Laura Friedman leads the street retreat, which concludes with a program at 4 p.m. at Harris United Methodist Church.

LUTHERANS PLAN ADVENT SERVICE
The Lutheran Church of Honolulu will perform its free annual "Advent Procession: The Great 'O' Antiphons" at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at the church, 1730 Punahou St.
The service is based on the Great "O" Antiphons, which refers to the seven names of the Messiah: O Wisdom, O Adonai, O Root of Jesse, O Key of David, O Rising Dawn, O King of Nations, and O Emmanuel. The seven verses of the Advent hymn, "O Come, O Come Emmanuel," is based on these seven names.

CHRISTMAS-TREE BLESSING PLANNED
St. Francis Hospice is holding two "A Simple Christmas" gatherings with Christmas-tree blessings, holiday music and light refreshments, at its two facilities:
Christmas trees will bear stars of those remembered at Christmas and be on display through the holidays. (Make remembrance requests in advance.)

Honolulu Chorale is offering a Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 16 at United Church of Christ, 467 N. Judd St.
The free holiday event features Schubert's "Mass in G" with Ruth Imperial Pfeiffer as guest organist.
