Linfield DB Tawata earns honor

Linfield (McMinnville, Ore.) junior defensive back Keone Tawata, a 2003 Radford graduate, was named the Northwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Tawata intercepted two passes, returning one for a 40-yard touchdown in a 42-14 win over Willamette Saturday.
He also recovered a fumble and led the Linfield defense with 15 tackles, including nine solo.
Senior defensive end Nik Soo, a Kamehameha graduate from Kamuela, and junior wide receiver Josh Vierra, a 2003 Kamehameha graduate from Kahalu'u, also start for Linfield. Junior Stan Fisher (Punahou) of Kailua is Linfield's punter.

Freshman defensive end Daniel Te'o-Neisheim (Hawai'i Prep '05) had three tackle assists, senior defensive tackle Donny Mateaki (Iolani '02) had one tackle, and senior defensive end Brandon Ala (Kamehameha '02) had one pass breakup.
Crowell was 16 of 28 for 212 yards, and one interception. Nakihei had seven carries for 78 yards and a touchdown.

Lau scored in the 82nd minute, burying a shot into the upper right corner of the goal.
Freshman Kelsi Chan (Kamehameha '06 of Hawai'i Kai) notched an assist in the 71st minute.
Chong scored in the 26th minute after starting the play in her own half, eluding two defenders. She held off the recovering defenders to slot the ball past the goalkeeper. She scored again in the 74th minute on a counterattack.
The goals were Chong's first of her collegiate career.
Caires was also named to the Plattsburgh State Cardinal Classic All-Tournament Team on Sept. 9.
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Hardimon posted back-to-back double-doubles, her 16th and 17th of her career, against Louisville and Cincinnati.
Against the Cardinals, she recorded a match-high 18 kills and 10 digs, while tying her career-high with six service aces. Against the Bearcats, Hardimon registered 14 kills and tied her personal-best with 22 digs.
Hardimon averages a team-best 3.63 kills per game (225 total).
She had 27 kills in 58 attempts (.379 hitting percentage), six digs and four total blocks.
Junior libero Christa Hewett (Kamehameha '04 of Pearl City) was named the NAIA Region II Libero of the Week on Sept. 19 and Cal Pac Libero of the Week on Sept. 13.
Menlo has three Hawai'i players on its roster. It had as many as 10 in previous years. Junior outside hitter Christi Haia is a Sacred Hearts graduate.
"They're making a great impact, the same impact I always have from Hawai'i players," coach Bill Imwalle said. "I try to get as many kids as I can."
She dished out 44 assists, helping the team to .341 hitting, with nine digs in a 30-18, 30-21, 30-25 win over Gonzaga Saturday.
Miyashiro had 29 digs in a 28-30, 23-30, 30-21, 31-29, 15-13 loss to UCLA Friday.
UCLA is third, USC fourth and Washington fifth in this week's CSTV/AVCA Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll.
MEN'S GOLF
Isobe was also named the Liberty League Rookie of the Week on Sept. 25 after shooting 71-74—145 at the Williams Invitational that weekend to tie for third place among 107 participants.

Robb's crew sailed 10 of the 11 B-division races, notching three finishes in the top six.
