Two men were arrested last night in connection with the beating death of a 46-year-old man in Wai'anae on Friday.
The men, ages 22 and 35, turned themselves in at the main police station on Beretania Street at about 8 p.m. They were booked on suspicion of second-degree murder and were being held in a police cell block pending charges.
Police said they were still searching for a third suspect.
A conviction for second-degree murder carries a mandatory prison term of life with the possibility of parole.
The two men are suspected in the beating death of Roger Haudenshild in the parking lot of the Wai'anae Market.
Police believe Haudenshild was riding his bicycle near the Wai'anae McDonald's when he got into a traffic altercation with a man in a sports car. A fistfight broke out, and after the fight the man said he would return with friends, said Haudenshild's girlfriend, Theresa Tucay.
Haudenshild rode his bike about 100 yards to the market. A short time later, a Ford sedan pulled into the lot and three men jumped out, police said. Tucay said they threw her to the ground and savagely beat Haudenshild.
A witness said Haudenshild was unconscious, but the men continued to stomp on his head and kick him. Haudenshild, a Wai'anae resident, died at the Wai'anae Coast Comprehensive Health Center.
