Water fatality had heart attack

An autopsy has determined that a Big Island man pulled from West Hawai'i waters Tuesday died of a heart attack.
The victim has been identified as Alvin Lung, 63, of North Kohala.
Lung was last seen launching his kayak from the Puako Boat Ramp. Witnesses saw him floating in a bay between the boat ramp and Wailea Bay at 4:09 p.m. Tuesday, pulled him out and called 911. When police and fire rescue units arrived, Lung had no vital signs.
Police said they do not suspect foul play.
DRIVER ARRESTED IN HIT AND RUN
Police have arrested a 60-year-old man in a hit-and-run accident on Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City that left a pedestrian with critical injuries.
Police said the pedestrian, a 40-year-old man, was crossing the highway from the mauka to the makai side when he was struck about 9:30 p.m. Thursday night by a 2006 Toyota near Pu'u Momi Street.
The driver, who was headed toward 'Aiea, did not stop but was pulled over a short time later by patrol officers.
The injured man, who was not in a crosswalk when he was hit, was taken to The Queen's Medical Center and arrived there in critical condition, police said.
Police vehicular homicide investigators said consumption of alcohol may have been a factor. It is not known if speed was a factor.
Police are pursuing a motor vehicle collision investigation, a negligent-injury case and a failure-to-render-aid case.
MAN SITTING ON HIGHWAY KILLED
A 46-year-old Keokea man was killed Thursday when he was struck by a car on Kula Highway as he sat in the southbound lane of the highway, Maui police said.
Police said the man was hit by a white 1989 Toyota hatchback at about 8 p.m. about a half-mile south of Cross Road as he sat facing away from oncoming traffic.
Police said the identity of the driver has not been confirmed, and they do not know if the car had any other passengers. Police have not determined whether speed or alcohol were factors.
