More than 30,000 expected tonight

 •  UH, UNLV dealing with their own issues

More than 28,000 tickets have been sold for tonight's University of Hawai'i football home opener against UNLV at Aloha Stadium.

A Thursday story that said 21,500 tickets had been sold as of Wednesday was incorrect, according to UH. The figure was 24,500, said Lois Manin, UH sports media relations director.

As of last night, 28,106 tickets had been sold.

"Basically, we anticipate attendance well into the mid-30,000-range," said John McNamara, UH associate athletic director. "Traditionally, game-day sales are good, especially for the opener, and with our new ticketing system that allows fans to print tickets from home, we hope that will spur more game-day purchases."

Last year, UH sold out (50,000) its home opener against defending national champion USC. UH's smallest crowd for an opener at Aloha Stadium since 1977 was 35,248 in 1997.
