Arizona Western sophomore linebacker Max Fairclough, a 2005 Kahuku alum from La'ie, was selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association Football Defensive Player of the Week for games through Sept. 18.

Fairclough led Arizona Western to a 7-0 victory over Air Force's junior varsity team with 13 solo tackles, three assisted tackles, and 1 1/2 sacks.

His full sack came on a third-and-goal play when he stuffed the Air Force quarterback five yards behind the line of scrimmage. Air Force then settled for a field-goal attempt, which was then blocked. He also forced a fumble, setting up Arizona Western's winning drive.
