ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
For health's sake, take a walk!
Advertiser Staff and News Services
As the Step It Up Hawaii campaign continues, here's our second weekly walking tip. Walking at least 30 minutes a day is one of the most important steps you can take to improve your life. Three 10-minute brisk walks are as beneficial as going nonstop for 30 minutes. Too busy? Here's how to do it: Park the car several blocks from work; that's 10 minutes. Walk for 10 minutes before or after lunch. Walk to your car after work. If you take your children to athletic practice, walk around the field while they practice. Ten minutes of daily walking burns 2 to 4 pounds of fat in a year. Next week: The benefits of walking the dog. For more information, go to www.healthyhawaii.com.
