Transition from evil to good

Advertiser Staff

Shingon Shu Mission

spacer spacer

Sitting outside the Shingon Shu Mission on Sheridan Street are two new statues depicting the ancient gods Fujin (wind) and Raijin (thunder), who were present at the beginning of time. In Buddhist lore, Fujin and Raijin, who are thought to be brothers, were once on the side of the forces of evil and tormented mankind. Buddha was able to rein in their unceasing harassment and managed to turn them to the side of good, and now Fujin and Raijin are often placed as protectors of sanctuaries to keep bad karma out.
