Kamehameha outside hitter Kanani Herring is a candidate for the PrepVolleyball.com National Junior Player of the Year.
Herring, the two-time Advertiser State Player of the Year, was the 2005 PrepVolleyball.com National Sophomore of the Year.
'Iolani's Kapua Kamana'o and Kamehameha's Kea Kea are candidates for the Andi Collins Award for the nation's top senior setter. Kamana'o signed with Saint Mary's and Kea is headed to Pepperdine.
FOOTBALL
CLINIC SET FOR YOUTHS
The National Football League and the Hawai'i High School Athletic Association will host a Junior Player Development clinic, Feb. 5 to 9, at 'Aiea High School.
The program is designed to teach skills for various positions to boys and girls ages 12 to 14. It will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. each day.
Participants are required to complete a waiver and medical form. Forms are available on the HHSAA Web site at www.sportshigh.com, and at 'Aiea High School's main office. Completed forms must be received at 'Aiea High School by Feb. 2.
Equipment will be issued to participants Feb. 3, beginning at 9 a.m.
