HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL
Fehoko, Hardin off to Mainland colleges

Advertiser Staff

Two Advertiser All-State first-team players have accepted football scholarship offers to Mainland schools.

Farrington defensive lineman Sam Fehoko says he'll sign with San Diego State and Kamehameha defensive back Brandon Hardin will sign with Oregon State.

Fehoko, who is 6 feet 2 and 230 pounds, will be reunited with brother Whitley, an offensive lineman also from Farrington, according to their father Vili (The Warrior) Fehoko.

Hawai'i was scheduled to visit the Fehokos tonight, but that meeting was canceled.

Hardin joins Wai'anae linebacker/defensive end David Pa'aluhi, who also said he has accepted an offer from the Pac-10 school in Corvallis, Ore.

"They have educational programs that I'd like to purse," Hardin said. "I like the facilities, the people and the environment is just really vibrant and really great."

Hardin, who is 6 feet 2 1/2 and 182 pounds, played cornerback for the Warriors.

Both players declined offers from Hawai'i, which Hardin was to visit this weekend. Hardin said UH and OSU were the only schools that made him offers. Hardin said he will redshirt his freshman year.

"I'm a late-born, so when I go up to school, I'll still be 17," said Hardin, whose birthday is Oct. 30. "It would be good for me to get one more year of development."

Hardin also competes in track in the long and triple jumps, as well as the 4x100 relay.
