Two people critically injured in separate motor vehicle accidents died Thursday, raising O'ahu's traffic fatality count this year to 38.
A 68-year-old woman, identified by the medical examiner as Nyra Williams of Kane'ohe, died at Hawaii Medical Center-West after her 2003 Honda Civic hit a utility pole on Kupuohi Street near the Wal-Mart store in Royal Kunia at 3:42 p.m. Thursday.
Williams may have suffered a medical condition before the crash, police said.
Vehicular traffic investigators also learned yesterday that a 53-year-old man injured Tuesday in a rear-end crash involving his motorized scooter in Helemano died Thursday at The Queen's Medical Center at 9:35 p.m.
Police said the man's Honda scooter rear-ended a Honda sedan at 4:45 p.m. on Kamehameha Highway near the intersection of Pa'ala'a Uka-Pupukea Road.
The 38 deaths is 13 fewer than on the same date last year.
