Baldwin's June Ann Lusk broke into the Hawai'i high school sports scene as a freshman, when she won the MIL championship in the 100-meter hurdles and was part of the Bears' winning 4x100 relay team at the state championship meet.

As a sophomore, she was MIL champ in the 100-meter dash, 100 hurdles, 200 and 300 hurdles, and then set the state championship meet record in the 100 with a time of 12.25 seconds.

As a junior, she won a state title in the 100 hurdles and was part of Baldwin's winning 4x100 relay team as the Bears took second place in the overall team standings for the second straight year.

Unfortunately, a hip injury limited her performance in last month's state meet, although she still managed to take fifth in the 100 hurdles.

June Ann also was a key contributor to Baldwin's powerhouse softball team for four years, earning Advertiser All-State first-team honors as a center fielder this season when the Bears captured their first state championship since 2001.

In the classroom, she carried a 3.74 grade-point average while taking nine honors classes, including AP calculus. June Ann also was the senior class rep in student government and played French horn in the school band for two years, earning first-chair honors.

She will continue her academic and track career at the United States Naval Academy, where she hopes to earn a degree in quantitative economics.
