PLEA IS NOT GUILTY IN MOM'S MURDER

A 25-year-old woman pleaded not guilty yesterday to a charge of murdering her mother at their Halawa Heights home.

Carol K. Weidman is accused of second-degree murder in what the city medical examiner's office said was the strangulation and stabbing of Lisa Weidman, 55, also known as Lisa Wu, at her Pa'ihi Street home the night of May 30.

Carol Weidman's trial was set for the week of Aug. 13.

City prosecutors earlier said Carol Weidman may be suffering from "undiagnosed mental health issues." She is being held on $100,000 bail.
