Hawaiian Electric Co. will conduct a statewide series of public meetings to explore whether biofuels for Hawai'i can be sustainable. The Natural Resources Defense Council and HECO have proposed that only sustainable palm oil feed stocks be used for biodiesel refined in or imported into Hawai'i. The Hawai'i Venture Capital Association's luncheon speaker will be Michael Kramer, director of social research for Natural Investment Services, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Plaza Club at 900 Fort Street Mall, 20th floor.
Kramer will profile the state of the $2.3 trillion socially responsible investment industry, in particular the private equity, venture capital and community development finance sectors.
