MAKUA
Makua Valley in retrospective
Advertiser Staff
A group of 15 artists will present a retrospective exhibit on Makua Valley, its Hawaiian cultural foundation and its use by the Army.
The exhibit will be held March 20 through April 11 at the Honolulu Academy of Arts' Academy Art Center at Linekona.
Makua, a wahi pana (celebrated place), supported a large population in pre-contact times.
The valley, which had upland field systems and structures, is deserted today, following more than 60 years of live-fire training by the Army.
