Some 25 Nanaikapono Elementary School teachers will join more than a half- dozen Nanakuli cultural leaders for the two-day Nana I ka Pulapula Spring Retreat beginning Monday.

The teachers, along with their community guides, will explore Nanakuli Valley and the area's coastline in order to learn about the cultural aspects of the region, which they can then share with their students.

Teachers will gain knowledge about the Nanakuli community, its resources and its cultural practices to help them develop culturally responsive curricula and engage in literacy activities that integrate Nanakuli cultural understanding.
