Kahala Mall to rent office space

Kahala Mall has decided to convert its store space formerly occupied by Tower Records into offices for lease.
The roughly 10,000-square-foot space housed two restaurants before Tower, which closed in December. But its second-story location with no interior connection to the enclosed mall made it ill-suited for retail, according to Ron Yoda, the shopping center's general manager.
PAPAYA SALES, PRODUCTION OFF
Hawai'i's February fresh papaya sales fell 14 percent from January to an estimated 2.1 million pounds, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service. February's production also was down 8 percent from February of last year.
Papaya growers were expected to receive an estimated 41 cents per pound for fresh fruit in February 2007, which was up 8 percent or 3 cents from last month and up 14 percent or 5 cents from a year ago.
KAUA'I RESIDENT ON PACKAGING
Kapa'a, Kaua'i, resident Nick Mortel is one of 24 people selected by McDonald's Corp. to appear on packaging that will be rolled out at restaurants in the U.S. and Canada this month. He was picked from among 13,000 entries received, the world's largest restaurant chain said.
McDonald's described Mortel as a high school student who loves watching and playing football. He was one of eight people selected in North America. Others on the packaging come from Latin America, Asia and Europe.
