TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Six Degrees" return, 8 p.m., ABC. This series gets a second chance. It's built on the six-degrees-of-separation notion that even in New York City, lives intersect. Whitney (Bridget Moynahan) is a business dynamo who has just dumped her cheating boyfriend. Laura (Hope Davis) is her new friend, a lonely widow. Steven (Campbell Scott), who is recovering from a drug habit that ruined his career. Laura photographed. They don't know each other but — in a major coincidence — Steven knows Whitney. Meanwhile, Carlos (Jay Hernandez) is a defense lawyer who finds someone able to save his client. It's too tangled, but has just enough good moments to keep us watching.

"House" (Fox) and "Grey's Anatomy" (ABC), both 7 p.m. For the second straight week, reruns of two doctor shows collide. Fox has Dr. House baffled because of a poisoned student. ABC has Denny, the patient, coming between Alex and Izzie. Meanwhile, Cristina has a tough time as Bailey's baby sitter.

OF LOCAL NOTE

"The Kamehameha Schools Song Contest," 7 p.m., KGMB. The 87th annual song competition, with compositions performed by students of the Kamehameha Schools' Kapalama campus. Broadcast live.

OF NOTE

Basketball, 1 p.m., CBS. By the end of the night, the NCAA tournament will have what it calls its "elite eight." Then it will be back over the weekend to trim down to the final four.

"Catwoman" (2004, AMC) and "Waterworld" (1995, Bravo), both 5 p.m. We're guessing neither of these adventure films is at the top of the resume for Halle Berry or Kevin Costner, respectively.

Miss USA pageant, 8 p.m., NBC. It was a controversial year for Tara Conner, but now she gets to wrap it up and hand over her crown tonight. After two years in Baltimore, the event moves to the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles. Nancy O'Dell hosts, introducing lots of people who look fine in swimsuits and evening gowns.

"Wedding Bells," 8 p.m., Fox. The problems range from too sexy to not sexy enough. At one extreme, Sammy tries to convince a bride not to wear a revealing gown. At the other, Jane worries about her husband's lack of interest. Her solution is to try role-playing games.
