Advertiser Staff and News Services
Noticed R2D2 standing guard in your neighborhood lately? The Postal Service has teamed up with Lucasfilm to celebrate the 30th anniversary of "Star Wars," and an army of collection boxes disguised as the pithy film robot has landed in 200 cities across the country. That includes four droids in Honolulu ÷ outside the Ala Moana and downtown post offices, in front of the Waikiki Business Plaza and in front of The Advertiser. On Wednesday, the USPS unveils its new "Star Wars" stamp, which won't go on sale until late May.

Correction: The Postal Service's new "Star Wars" stamp won't go on sale until late May. The stamp design will be unveiled tomorrow. A previous version of this story incorrectly said the 41-cent stamp would go on sale tomorrow.
GIFT IDEA
LONO LORE FOR YOUR LETTERS
It's nice to have blank notecards handy for that random "thinking of you" to friends and family. Bishop Museum Press' new Lono's Garden ($9.95) boxed set of cards featuring bold artwork by Caren Loebel-Fried are visually luscious and educational, including notes on the god Lono, kalo, mai'a (bananas), and ko (sugar cane). Available at Bishop Museum and Na Mea/Native Books at Ward Warehouse.

FINAL WORD
"We're living in scary times. People are looking for hope and turning to the spiritual. We really want to believe in the possibility of a mythic hero."
